Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I slide out from beneath my cozy blankets.
There is an extra chill in the air this morning as I slip on a warm robe to cover my bare skin.
I make my way to the kitchen in anticipation of a hot cup of coffee, carefully maneuvering around the two hungry cats weaving in and out between my ankles.
As my lips take in the first few sips of warm rich liquid, my eyes drift over toward an unexpected, but familiar tint of light coming in through the window.
I venture closer to see and squinting from the brightness, a childlike excitement courses through me ~ freshly fallen snow!
Sparkling like glitter on a magical lake the rays of the rising sun dance over its surface, the extraordinary beauty of it dazzles and delights my senses.
I sigh, profoundly grateful for eyes to see and a heart to feel.
Ah, the winter is cold, but my heart is warm as I bask in the wonder and beauty of nature as it graces me with its first snow.

The first snowfall is always so pretty, I hadn’t known any was in the forecast so it was really a fun surprise to wake up to this morning. π Well my friend, you are more than welcome to come up and pay me a little visit if you ever find yourself in need of a snow fix, we usually have plenty to spare. π

It sounds like nature gave you a great feeling inside this morning Jewels, as much as I don’t like being out in the snow it’s beautiful to look at. Great post. x

Thanks, indeed it did Chris. So you don’t like being out in the snow do you? Well, although it is cold, and wet, and can be quite unpleasant, it can also be a wonderful lot of fun too if you’re good and bundled up and have the right person playing out in it with you.x π

I wanted to share this poem I wrote from a couple of years ago. Although the fresh snow we have here this morning isn’t quite like this describes, I still have that wonderful, magical feeling.
The first snowfall of the year is always so exciting and has a special way of instilling that sense wonder in me.
May your day be filled with a sense of wonder too my friends! β€

You’ve captured that magical feeling of waking up to snow so beautifully. First thing in the morning is always when I enjoy snow the most. There really is something magical about waking up to that tint of light coming through the window. Enjoy your snowy day!

Thanks Trisha! The morning I wrote this poem went down exactly as I described it… I wasn’t expecting snow at all and it was such a surprise and a delight to see! π
I’m enjoying the snowy day so far, I had some broccoli cheddar soup for lunch that hit the spot so perfectly!
But then I made the mistake of going on my Facebook and it was really a buzz kill reading all of the snow hating statuses from my fellow Minnesotans. Things even got a little ugly on the status I posted in favor of the snow. So I’m thinking unplugging for the rest of the day sounds like a good plan. π
Hope you’re feeling alright today Trisha, and that you have a wonderful day! β€

Sorry to hear snow-haters killed your snow buzz. π¦ I rarely go on Facebook anymore because of the unkindness I see there, especially around election season. I hope unplugging restored your peace and renewed your feeling of wonder for the first snow. Minnesota snow is probably envied by more snow-deprived people than just me!
