Garden Goodness

I’ve been enjoying lots of goodies from the garden this past week.  Just picked these green beans this morning…

I’ll give you one guess what type of veggies we’re having with dinner tonight.  😉

~

We’ve been enjoying a few tomatoes as well…

Unfortunately, the squirrels have been enjoying them too.  The past couple of mornings I’ve went out there, I’ve found half eaten tomatoes laying around on the ground.  Just as they’re beginning to ripen too, those little scoundrels!

~

Oh, but look at this huge zucchini I laid on the ground…

Teddy was out on the patio with me, so I put it down there next to him to show the massive size of this thing.  Granted, he’s a little dog, but that zucchini is nearly as big as he is!  There always seems to be at least one zucchini each year that hides down in the deep dark depths underneath the plant that escapes my notice until it’s so big that it can’t hide anymore.  I made some zucchini bread with it last night.  😀

~

I’m finally getting bell peppers, they’ve been really slow in developing.  Thankfully, there’s several more of them out there now since I took this photo…

And the cucumbers are still out there producing like champs…

I’ve got a creamy cucumber salad recipe I’m going to whip up this afternoon made with all of them.

~

There are a few things blooming out there too.   Mostly annuals though at the moment, like these Gazanias…

But I’ve got that gorgeous rain garden across the street to enjoy, blooming profusely with its sun loving plants and attracting all of those beautiful Monarch butterflies.  And the phlox in the flower bed are looking as lovely as ever…

The ones we have planted on the other side of the house are starting to bloom as well, and I can already smell their sweet fragrance.

~

And my little strawberry plant is still getting pretty pink blossoms on it…

Of course, the strawberries growing on it aren’t anything to write home about, they’re just tiny things, but the plant is so cute!

~

I’m so pleased and thankful with how well everything is doing in my garden this year.  Thanks for letting me share a bit of its beauty and goodness with you ~ even if it’s only through photos via the internet.  😉

Hope you all have a wonderful, beautiful day!  ❤

  4. Lovely produce and flowers!!! I especially love the Gazania. I planted my garden late, since I didn’t really have a garden at all until a few weeks ago, so, no zucchini (next year!), but I do have a pepper starting to grow and bean plant starting to come up (SO lucky we can plant and grow until October here).

    • Thank you! Gazanias are such cheerful looking blooms. 🙂 It’s so wonderful that you can plant and grow until October where you are! Our growing season isn’t very long here. Fun that you have a pepper and bean plant starting to grow, I hope they do very well for you, gardening really is such a delight, and it’s so rewarding to eat food you’ve grown yourself!

  5. There is something magical about food you grow yourself isn’t there? Nothing beats it I only have 4 apples on my apple tree but I am immensely proud of them lol.

  8. Yummy! So wish I’d planted my beans! I also have a giant zucchini and some cucumbers. Can’t wait to make some zucchini bread! I couldn’t get done much of what I wanted to. Too many events got in the way. BUT! I’m glad to have what I do 🙂 So grateful to have a food garden growing!
Teddy is adorable! Oh my goodness, I do so love Pomeranians! Clever fluffy dogs!

    • That zucchini bread really sticks to your ribs though doesn’t it? Oof, after only 2 slices I feel so full!
Yeah, Teddy really is a cute little squirt! ❤ He was being all sweet and sleepy, sunbathing on the patio when I woke him and tried to get him pose for a picture. 🙂

  9. Wonderful photos and romp around your garden. Your harvest looks very appealing. Mine has mostly fizzled out except for flowers and pollinators for which I’m grateful. Thanks for sharing your garden goodness, even if you did borrow my post name! 🙂

    • Thanks, Brad! Some of mine is all looking like it’s winding down a bit too, with all of the undergrowth on my cukes starting to yellow, but I’m so happy with how it has grown.
Haha well I hadn’t borrowed your post’s title on purpose, but now that I see the link, I do recall that post of yours! What can I say except that ‘Garden Goodness’ is simply the best way to describe what it is. 🙂
Hope you have a great week ahead, Brad, and “may all your weeds be wildflowers.” Now that one I did borrow intentionally, although I have no idea where that one originated. 😀

Guess what? I live on Wildflower St. !! 🙂

I sincerely appreciate our mutual love for gardens, flowers, nature, and photography as well, and thank you too, Brad! 😀

  12. Everything in your garden is looking so lovely! I’m green with envy! I haven’t even been keeping up with watering or dead heading so nothing is looking all that great in my yard.

    • Thanks Trisha! I haven’t been keeping up all that well either ~ hence that giant zucchini I overlooked. 😉 But in general I haven’t been spending as much time in my garden, it’s been really muggy out (even in the mornings) and it’s not as enjoyable sitting out there with a hot cup of coffee in the heat. I think I’ve mentioned (only about 100 times) how I don’t like the heat, so I’ve only been doing quick checks and watering out there while it’s been so hot. Funny though that I’ve still went out riding my new bike on these hot days. 😀

  13. Oh I’m licking my lips! So great to see you about to enjoy your produce which has been so cared for and nurtured. Enjoy! Your phlox is such a beauty. Much love to you Julie! xx

    • I’m licking mine too, after eating it all! 😉 I honestly think it tastes better just because of the fact I grew it myself. The phlox really is so lovely, I was out the other day trying to take pictures of the plant we have on the side of the house, the lighting wasn’t quite right for it, but it smelled so good! Much love to you too, Ruth! xx

  14. You have a beautiful garden! I have had a bad year here with peppers, too very slow to develop. hmmmm…I even started them early. They are taking off now which worries me since it is August! I have many green ones, but I am waiting for my red ones:-) Inspiring post 🙂 I can relate to animals munching on my food-tee hee!

    • Thanks Robbie! Yeah, I don’t know what the deal is with the peppers this year. I planted them late because of the weather, so I’m just hoping they turn yellow before the frost hits.
Those naughty little critters! Yesterday I was out on the patio having my coffee and a squirrel came trotting up to my garden all casual-like as if he owned the place. Until he saw me sitting there and scurried away. Muwahahaha, run away you little fiend! 😉
