Flowers:
for environmental reasons…
This sign was posted in a grouping with two other signs in reference to not feeding the water fowl at a local pond/park. But when I saw these bright little lovelies growing amidst the bottom portion of that set of signs, all I could think was how fitting it was that they were springing up and surrounding those particular words…
Go nature, reclaim the earth!

It wasn’t the best lighting that day for taking photos, but here are a few I snapped of the water fowl that those signs were referring to…
They were quite shy and wary of my presence, clearly indicating that other visitors to the park were adhering to the instructions on the signs. I completely understand the “environmental” reasons for not feeding them, but one of the fondest memories I have of time spent with my Dad as a child, was going to the park and feeding the ducks, so it makes me a bit sad at the same time.
But these young little ducks were sooo cute, and I had a wonderful time sitting there watching them, even if I couldn’t feed them. I did quack at them though. 😉

funny… but I too have fond memories of going to the park with my siblings and our father where we feed the ducks in the pond… and yes, the local park where I hang out has a sign posted requesting that we do NOT feed the geese or ducks as well. LOVE those little dudes! ❤

Funny… it must be a Daddy thing. 😉 As far as I know, the pond we always went to back then had no such signs posted, I’d be interested to see if there is one posted there now, maybe it’s a fairly recently realized environmental issue. The geese can be quite aggressive, I much prefer the sweet gentle ducks! ❤

Fun you did that too, Brad! 🙂 We always fed them the end slices of our bread loaves, hopefully that wasn’t too unhealthy for them. None of us kids liked eating the end pieces, so my Mom saved them for us to bring to the park to feed to the ducks and the squirrels with my Dad on Sunday afternoons. My Dad wasn’t all that involved in our lives growing up, so it was something I always really looked forward to doing with him. ❤ Such precious memories…

I don’t remember there being many geese back then, mostly ducks, but there sure are a lot of them around now, and they’re quite aggressive, so I can understand the signs in regard to them.
I really liked the way the flowers have grown up around the sign too! 🙂

Love it! We had some flash flooding last night, so the back 40 is pretty watery, but no sign of ducks today. I do love when the ducks come. But then I started thinking about the homes of mice and voles and bunnies out there, and I hope they’re okay…
Maybe since it’s largely unmowed, we’ll get cattails AND ducks! 🙂

Hope you will get some duckies visiting your back 40! We had a wonderful little 2 1/2 acre wetland area on our land at one of the homes I lived in, and we raised mallard ducks every spring until they flew away in the fall. It was so much fun, and a great experience for my daughter as she was growing up. 🙂

I understand their reasons but it always disappoints me when I can’t feed the ducks. I love watching them waddle around. The kids and I used to feed them at a little shopping place nearby and sometimes we’d get mobbed by so many it was almost scary!

A duck waddle is one of the cutest things to watch ever! 😀
The sweet, gentle ducks never mobbed us back then, but the squirrels did and it scared the crap out of me! We fed them too, but I never really liked it because they came way too close for comfort. Nowadays it’s the geese that mob you, they can be so aggressive, it freaks me out!

Geese can be scary! Squirrels too. They can get a little grabby. I agree that a duck waddle is one of cutest things to watch. I and when they wiggle their tail – adorable! Have a great weekend!
