Does it sound strange to say I’m craving orange? Not as in citruses, but as in the color orange. I’m sure it’s autumn being just around the corner that has something to do with it. 🙂
So if you don’t mind, I’d like to share some orange with you…
Having none growing in the garden, I went out and got myself a small pot of mums. There were so many lovely colors to choose from, but I picked the orange shaded ones. So warm, bright and cheerful!
And Look… my bell peppers have finally turned orange!
I also have a few small scraggly tomatoes that are still hanging in there trying to ripen on the vine. Orange is probably all the further they’ll be able progress before it gets too cold.
And speaking of cold…with these cooler autumn temps, what is more cozy than a nice warm (orange) fire out on the patio?
And with no mosquitoes! 😀
Still waiting for the leaves to change in my area, but little hints of color are definitely starting to show. Found this lovely while out on a bike ride the other day…
It’s not orange, but it has orange in it. 😉 I absolutely adore Sugar Maple trees and their stunning combination of autumn colors! ❤
~
And I love the changing of the seasons. Every single one. I’m so glad I live in an area where the seasons have such an obvious change as they go through their cycles. I find myself sort of craving the changing seasons and all that they entail as I sense their approach ~ even the colors… autumn gold, winter white, spring green, summer, well summer is really a kaleidoscope of colors isn’t it?! I’m so thankful for eyes that see!
Do you ever crave certain colors? Or is it just me?
I did a little reading about the color orange and here is a bit of what I found…
“Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.
To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red. Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity. As a citrus color, orange is associated with healthy food and stimulates appetite. Orange is the color of fall and harvest.
The color psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting, rejuvenating our spirit. In fact orange is so optimistic and uplifting that we should all find ways to use it in our everyday life, even if it is just an orange colored pen that we use.
Orange brings spontaneity and a positive outlook on life and is a great color to use during tough economic times, keeping us motivated and helping us to look on the bright side of life.
With its enthusiasm for life, the color orange relates to adventure and risk-taking, inspiring physical confidence, competition and independence. Those inspired by orange are always on the go!
In relation to the meaning of colors, orange is extroverted and uninhibited, often encouraging exhibitionism or, at the very least, showing-off!
The color orange relates to social communication, stimulating two way conversations. A warm and inviting color, it is both physically and mentally stimulating, so it gets people thinking and talking!”
Sounds about right to me!
May your day be filled with orange! And with…

Lovely pondering on the power of orange and colors. I definitely feel and appreciate the pull of colors. And I love orange too, especially all my bright orange Mexican sunflowers this year. I associate orange with passion. 🙂

I’m not familiar with Mexican sunflowers, but I imagine they’re gorgeous! I absolutely love the orange mums I got, they just shout autumn to me. 😀 It was interesting to read about the color orange, I mostly associate it with the season of fall, but in general I think it’s just a really fun and lively color. 🙂

The mums are so gorgeous! That’s the color I always pick for mums too. This is the orange time of year! I, too, feel grateful to live in area where we have seasonal changes (although sometimes no winter). As lovely as Hawaii is, I wouldn’t want to live there. I would go crazy with no yellow, red and orange leaves on the trees in the fall!
Now you’ve got me considering a trip out to buy some mums. 🙂 Wishing you a happy and very orange day!

They’re beauties aren’t they?! I usually pick the purple variety, but this time the orange ones just really spoke to me. 🙂 I’ve never been to Hawaii, but I wouldn’t want to live there (or anywhere) that has no distinct autumn, it’s my most favorite season of all! It’s been GORGEOUS weather here this past week, I wish it could be like this always…
Yes, go out and get yourself some mums, girl! Gotta celebrate this beautiful season while it lasts! 😀

Oh yes, gotta love all the colors! Orange is Moo’s favorite. Her walls are orange, even! She is definitely talkative, always on the go, and optimistic 🙂
Since I lived in a particularly ugly area of Georgia, with grass the color of straw, and palms as the primary green, I can easily say I craved greens madly. Until this time of year, then I could nearly cry as I pined for home with all of its colors.

Oh gosh, how does Moo even sleep with those orange walls?! 😉
Grass the color of straw does not sound appealing, I crave green too, especially in the spring, but it’s autumn colors I love best! And don’t even get me started on the smell of dried leaves or the sound of crunchy leaves beneath my feet! ❤

I don’t know about ‘craving’ for them Julie, but of them, orange is without doubt my favourite colour – for reasons I’ve never understood. I once rather unhelpfully suggested to someone that they start a business just selling orange things – any ‘things’, as long as they were orange. I think that I was, and perhaps still am, convinced that there are orange freaks like me, and dare I say it, you too, in the world. And autumn is easily the best time of year, of course!
Thank you for reassuring me that I need not seek about this help Julie. Orange freaks of the world unite!

I think that’s a splendid idea to have a business that only sells orange things, can you imagine what a fun place to shop or work that would be?! Orange is just about the most fun color I can think of! Purple is my favorite though. Currently anyway. It used to be yellow, and I’m very partial to blue and green as well. But in the fall it’s all about orange! And gold, crimson, rust and amber. 😀
Yes, autumn is most certainly THE best time of the year!

Putting on layers and scarves. Snuggling in in the evenings. Mists in the morning. Cobwebs that catch the dew and the light. Appreciating the last chirps of the crickets before they quieten for winter….
Soulfood indeed 🙂

What a beautiful post! 🙂 I love orange! 🙂 Especially in the autumn, and the orange of fireplaces and bonfires and candle light. I also love all the seasons! Ufortunatley here in india where i now live, there is just hot, hotter, hottest and monsun. 🙂 But in norway we have proper seasons, and i love every one of them!! Especially winter! 🙂

Thanks so much Trini! I didn’t realize you were in India, I would not do well in that climate. I would love to visit Norway some day, many times when I see photos of beautiful scenery, especially the Northern Lights which I LOVE, it’s always in Norway. A large portion of my ancestry is Norwegian as well, so it would be interesting for that reason too. 🙂
Hope you have a beautiful day sweet friend! ❤

I love orange, too!!! Also love Halloween, October and all things harvest! PS, so what will you do with the partially-ripened tomatoes? I’ve never had so many and never had this problem before. Should I make fried green tomatoes, then? Your advice welcomed! 🙂

I didn’t know orange meant anything, just that it’s a fun and happy color to me. I’m mostly drawn to shades of orange in autumn, and then I simply can’t get enough of it! I’m really in the mood for all things pumpkin too. ❤

Thanks so much Kim, and I’m so glad you liked this one! Orange is such a fun color, and in autumn it really “shows off!” 😀
I’m afraid you’d be a bit disappointed (and squished) if you were in my garden in person ~ it’s really just a tiny, humble, little space. But the amount of joy it brings me is huge 😉 and I’m so happy to share of bit of that with you! ❤

What an awesome post Jewels. Really. I’m going to pin this on to my creativity board. I am totally psyched now to research colors now too, and see how they affect the human psyche.
I am soooooo jealous that you have orange peppers and tomatoes. Where I live right now I can’t grow anything. Nor do I have a green thumb. However, I’m most likely moving to a place where I just may have the chance to grow some of my own stuff. I love freshly grown produce.
And those mums look absolutely vibrant.

Thanks Stacilys, I’m so glad you liked it! It’s interesting to read about the characteristics and meanings of colors, I don’t know if there’s any truth to it, but the stuff I read on orange sounded pretty spot on to me. 😉 It really is wonderful being able to grow your own food, hope you’re able to try it one day. My garden is just a small one, but it’s just the right size for me. 🙂
