I Got It From My Mom…

Today is my Mom’s birthday, happy birthday Momma!  And as I’ve been going through old pictures, spending some time reflecting on my Mom and all of the wonderful things about her, I’ve realized that I’ve inherited a good many of her wonderful qualities.  And I thought it might be fun to share some of those things in honor of her birthday.

All of the great qualities that I got from my mom…

 My love of nature

Truthfully, my Mom isn’t really a big fan of the outdoors. But you can see that she was definitely enjoying herself here while we were on a road trip through the Hoh Rain Forest.  🙂

My ability to withstand the cold harsh Minnesota winters

Without a coat even! 😉

I’ve shared this photo of my Mom before, it’s one of my favorites of her.  Gosh, she just looks so gorgeous!

My excellent skills in home improvement projects

My great fashion sense

My love for the ocean

Wait… Mom doesn’t actually even like the water.  But she has a big coffee mug in her hand here, so lets maybe use this one for… my love of coffee.  😉

My strong dislike of being near creepy dolls

I think she was just annoyed about getting her picture taken in this one, but seriously… look at that creepy doll.  Dolls really creep me out!  My mom looks kinda creepy here too…  😉

My beautiful smile

Oh look… my nephew inherited that too 😀

My silliness

And there’s my nephew photo bombing again 😉

My love of children

This is my Mom with my older sister as a tiny infant. It my sister’s birthday on Thursday, their birthday are only two days apart.  I love them both more than I could ever say.  ❤

And finally, last but not least… my love of photography

Mom cam

Throughout the years, my Mom was always snapping pictures of everything. And I’m so glad she did, so that I would have all of these wonderful photos to look back on  🙂

~

I know a lot of these are silly, but all joking aside, my Mom truly does possess so many wonderful qualities, and I am lucky to inherit even a smidgen of them.  I think she’s quite an amazing woman, and I’m so thankful to have her as my Mom.  ❤

Thanks so much for letting me share this with you.  I’m obviously off to spend the day celebrating my wonderful Mom, but I hope you find many reasons to celebrate this day as well!

😀

    • Thanks Brad! I will pass along your birthday greetings to my Mom! 🙂
I’m so grateful for the close relationship I have with my Mom, it has truly been a blessing to me throughout my entire life, and has affected who I have become. Of course as with any relationship, it has had it’s share of ups and downs, but the love and closeness always remains. ❤

  10. Your mom must be so proud to have such an appreciative daughter. You complement each other in so many ways. Hope your mom and sister enjoy their special days. It must be not much fun having to occasionally share their birthdays with Thanksgiving. But at least everyone gets together!

    • Thank you so much, Eliza! ❤
No, it's not much fun when one of their birthdays falls on Thanksgiving, this year it's my sister turn, and she's the one hosting Thanksgiving. No one should have to do all that work on their birthday, but luckily we'll all be there to help. 😀

My wife’s birthday is Thanksgiving this year, so I celebrated all month with her, to make sure she would still cook a turkey this year. I believe in Naps!

    • Haha! I’d be willing to cook a turkey too if I could have my birthday celebrated for an entire month! 😉 My sister is hosting Thanksgiving on her birthday this year too, but we’ll all be there to help. And then I’m sure we’ll all take a good nap once the tryptophan kicks in!
      Happy Thanksgiving! 😀
