Discarded Dreams

Discarded dreams laid to rest near frozen streams

having lost the will to fly

Sorry, a bit depressing, I know, but that’s what I thought of when I saw this sad, bright pink balloon laying in a gutter of dirty frozen water along the side of the road.

Nothing so delightful such as this pink balloon should ever end up discarded in the gutter, nor should something as beautiful as our hopes and dreams.

I realize sometimes that’s easier said, but maybe, like this balloon, we just need a fresh dose of helium breathed into us.

What’s your helium?

  1. … or maybe it simply lost its way
and was able to brighten someone else’s day…

  2. Seeing discarded toys always makes me a little sad. When I was a kid, I always worried my stuffed animals would be sad if they fell on the floor. 🙂

I could use some form of helium today!

  3. Fun that a pink balloon inspired all this Julie. My helium is nature, hugs and intimacy with friends. Like my post today about social connection. My reservoir needs filling up! Thanks for being part of my community. 🙂

  5. I think today’s helium is hot tea and a quilt. A day (mostly) of rest.

  9. What lifts me up? Nature, bird song, a warm hug, a smile shared. So many things can do that for me, I just have to make myself available to them. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

  11. I’ll come and pick up the balloon and take it home with me, and give it a little air from my lungs so it can shine and sparkle again 🙂 ❤ Then I'll draw a smiley face on it with my glitter pen ❤ 🙂

  12. I see the ribbon tied to it and it reminds me of the notes we sent to Heaven for a friend. Maybe it hasn’t lost its way, but waiting for someone to find it. To brighten their day, maybe even change their life for their better like a good friends testament on life did for me. That is my helium. 🎈🎈🎈
