“At night, I open the window
and ask the moon to come
and press its face against mine.
Breathe into me.
Close the language-door
and open the love-window...”
~ Rumi

You can’t tell it from my photo, but there was THE most beautiful moon last night! I was driving home from running a few errands and saw it glowing up there with its beautiful, luminous face. ❤
I tried so hard to capture a shot that would do it justice, but in the midst of the inner city, with all of the tall buildings and power lines in the way; in addition to the below zero winds blasting at me, this was the best I could do in the moment.
I came upon the Rumi poem a while back and thought it was so lovely. I can’t open the actual window right now with the current temps, but the ‘love-window’ is always open! And the moon can still press its face against mine as it shines on me through the window while I sleep. 😉
Whether it’s night or day… may your ‘love-window’ always be open too!

My one-time art teacher believed that power lines were part of the landscape and we should leave them in

I’m convinced the moon loves me as much as I love her. ❤

Thanks so much Kim! Me too, hopefully one day I shall have a camera that I am able to rightly photograph it with. 🙂

Your photograph was beautiful. I’m always taking pictures of the moon, but I only have my camera phone. 😦

Thank you, Kim! I know what you mean… I take a lot of pictures with my cell phone because I always have that with me, where as I don’t carry my regular camera along much of the time because it’s too bulky. The camera on my phone is really poor, so I’m not usually able to share those.

Beautiful moon and poem. I love Rumi. It might be time to attempt another Rumi style poem! Thanks for the inspiration Julie. 🙂

Julie, you’ve beautifully captured both the moon and the mood with your picture and quote. Last night it was our companion as we walked around our neighborhood.
