When your soul gets weary and the heat becomes too much
come take rest in my shade
When the rain falls and the winds of life blow
let me whisper you a soft lullaby as you lay beneath my loving boughs
I’ll be your shelter

The giving tree and yet at times we take it for granted…thanks for reminding us of this once more. 🙂

Trees really do give us so much – even the very air we breathe, and we should never take them for granted. I adore trees. ❤ This was partly metaphorical too, however, as I myself am wanting to be a shelter for those I love.

Someday I want a tree like this in my back yard, so I can go sit under it any time I want 🙂

You can’t tell it from the photo, but this tree was massive in size Simon, just an amazing tree, I could have sat beneath it all day and listened to the stories it had to tell. 🙂

Noelle, you honor me with such a comparison, thank you…

I try to remember people like Thoreau and Michaelangelo and so on were just people. Like you and me. People who had the courage to express their creative spirit. I think the comparison well worth making, my friend.

Beautiful! I love the trees and am so appreciating the shade and shelter they provide. I, too, wish I could provide that kind of shelter for those I love. Sometimes I also wish I could be like the Whomping Willow in the Harry Potter movies so I could provide shelter and kick butt. 🙂

Thanks Trisha! Haha yeah being like the Whomping Willow would be awesome! Sometimes being a shelter could include also some kicking some butt! 🙂

One the delights of my recent visit in the north of the world was the bright light green of the leaves of your deciduous trees, it is so beautiful. Our evergreen eucalypts are much darker in colour. I loved walking through the forests and just enjoying the different light, it was a beautiful experience, and the trees seem to spread out over you as a covering of protection.as you shared. Thanks Jewels!

The light that filters through the trees is quite magical, and their outstretched limbs really do give that sheltered feeling. And the bigger they are the more the effect. I love trees ❤

So beautiful, Julie. I die a little when I see a wonderful forest of trees cleared in the name of progress. It is happening more and more. Clearing a natural shelter….such a shame. I love this.

Thanks so much, Lois. Me too, the first time I ever saw an area that was clear cut, I cried. I mean, I understand the need for lumber and all, but it’s so sad. There are lots of restoration programs here in Minnesota and I’m thankful that areas are being replanted, but it takes a long ass time for trees to grow to the size of the ones being cut down. When I went to Northern California to see the Redwood Forest, I was completely in awe of those ancient trees, it was a spiritual experience for me. And the scent… out of this world! ❤

I cannot imagine what the redwood forest looks like. Awe would be the exact word I would use.

I have an affinity for trees. They give us so so much and we often abuse them…we have some ancient oaks nearby and you can feel the wisdom emanating from them…I share your sentiments and thank you for the lovely post, Julie 🙂

I know exactly what you mean about the wisdom emanating for those ancient oaks.
So glad you share in this with me ❤

Thanks so much Ruth, I’m so glad you liked it. Long or short, I’m happy to see you and have you stop by for a visit. xx Glad you liked the poppy, I came across a stunning patch of poppies at a local rose garden recently and they really stood out amidst the roses. So lovely, and huge!
Love to you too, and many blessings for your day! ❤
