Seaside Serenade

Refreshing winds blow across a liquid expanse of blue

invigorating my senses

Air and water coalesce in a magnificent duet

serenading my soul

as the waves caress the shore

  4. Yummy poem and photo Julie!! I flashed back to my summer in Madison and was enjoying the feel of being near water. Thanks my friend. 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Brad! Glad you enjoyed your Madison flashback, I’ve never been, and didn’t realize there were any major water areas there. I love being near water, especially large bodies of water, but rivers, falls, or any water that is in movement is also inviting. It’s the ocean that really calls to me, but Lake Superior is the next best thing, and thankfully it’s only a few hours away 🙂

  8. Not huge lakes, but 2 small lakes right in the middle of town that are very accessible, plus several other lakes around the area. Plus it’s a wonderful town for biking! 🙂

  9. Beautiful poem, Julie, you’ve captured the feeling perfectly. Wish I could jump right in!

    • Thanks so much, Eliza. You may have needed a wet suit and a life preserver had you jumped in on the day I snapped this photo – the water (and the air) was quite nippy and there were riptide warnings posted, but it was wonderfully invigorating just being there on the beach and dipping my feet in. 🙂

  10. You express such a beautiful and pure sensuality in your poetry Jewels, which exudes a wonderful depth of appreciation that many never perceive or experience. This is both a gift and a blessing which I receive with kindred spirit. Thanks again Jewels.

    • Thank you so much! I’m always so pleased when I’m able to find the words that truly express what I’m feeling – the experience I was having while I was snapping the photo was exactly as I wrote. What I didn’t mention was the smile I had on my face the entire time. 🙂
Thanks again for what you say about my poetry, I sincerely appreciate it, and it means a lot to me to hear…

  15. “Refreshing winds blow across a liquid expanse of blue, invigorating my senses” – These words are how I feel when I return to Seattle after a long trip…nothing quite like the feel of the ocean: sight, smell and feel of the wind. Beautiful poem.

    • Ahhh Seattle… one of my favorite places. For nearly 20 years I would go out there each year to spend time with my sister. It’s been 10 years now since I’ve been – waaay too long. Gosh, I could so do with a visit there…
Say hi to the mountain for me, next time its out, I’m sure it misses me. 😉

      Thanks so much, Randall! 🙂

  16. Oh yes Julie – I’m right there! This really fills the senses 🙂
I will be there next week when I get to Scotland. The first thing we do after picking up the car is to drive along the coast and get out to walk to the shore 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Ruth! But I must confess… this isn’t a photo of the sea, I cheated on the title, this is actually Lake Superior. It’s almost like the sea though. 😉

  19. “Seaside serenade” what a beautiful title to a lovely poem, and the image is stunning!!!

    • Thanks so much, Noora. I cheated on the title because I was actually at the lake, but it was Lake Superior which is a gigantic lake, so it’s much like the sea… just without the salt water. 😉
