On a Rainy Autumn Morning

I awake to a melody of raindrops playing a sweet refrain on my rooftop

Relishing the warmth and comfort lying beneath my cozy covers

lingering a bit longer in bed is going to be a must today

But hearing me stir, a hungry kitty tickles my cheek with her whiskers, mew

Not yet Baby, lets snuggle a while

Her cold nose touches mine, mew

So much for lingering in bed, a hungry cat must be appeased

And as I force myself to crawl out of my cozy little world, I am appeased with a hot steaming cup of coffee

Rich aroma and flavor even more enhanced by the mood of the weather

Looking outside, vibrant autumn colors paint a stunning contrast against the dark, gloomy skies

Wet leaves decorate the ground, just as beautiful fallen as they are adorning the branches

The kitty empties her dish, and now beckons me come and snuggle, mew

I’m up now sweetie, sorry

And as the rain continues to fall, I sip, gradually draining my cup

taking in all that this present moment has to offer

on a rainy autumn morning

      Thanks Dorinda! You know… that pine tree outside my window was talking to me the other day – he was feeling a bit unappreciated, I reminded him that he enhances the autumn colors of the other trees and that his time was coming… pines in the winter are a beautiful, wondrous site! 🙂

      Thanks so much, Trisha! I’m dreading running my errands in the rain (procrastinating majorly here), I just want to stay inside and be cozy, but we’ve got Halloween stuffs to do. We’re going out for dinner to a haunted restaurant on Halloween and have decided to dress up, so I need things for putting a costume together, and the thrift stores have 25% off today. Wish me luck! It’s also free pie day at a local restaurant today so there’s that to look forward to. 😉

      I know what you mean – I don't usually drink coffee past noon. But I do plan to stop at my favorite coffeehouse while I'm out running errands in this cold wetness and get a pumpkin spiced chai tea latte! 🙂

    Its a misty damp Autumn day here as well. You captured the morning wake up so beautifully … except I had doggies noses waking me up.
    Now most of the leaves have fallen and the ground is a colorful slick carpet.
    Be careful driving out there!

      We still have quite a few leaves on the trees in my neighborhood, and I'm thankful for the prolonged autumn color, but there's a lot of them accumulating on the ground now too – and they can be slick when wet. I was careful driving out there yesterday on those wet leaves, there was some white stuff mixed in with the rain so I took extra care. Hopefully it was just a fluke… I'm not ready for that white stuff just yet. 😉

    I love your descriptions Jewels, I feel I am there with you, in the experience, and I do adore the colours of your leaves, something which is somewhat of a rare treat for us here in evergreenville:-)

      Thanks so much! Yeah, I’m so glad to live in a place where the leaves change color in the fall, I would miss it terribly if I didn’t, but I imagine there are still some nature changes, however slight, in other parts of the world too as the earth revolves in its seasons – there’s always something beautiful to enjoy no matter where we are. 🙂

    A perfect capture of a quiet moment. Love the image of the cold nose and little mew. The first thing I do each morning is feed the cat. I have been well trained. haha
