First Snow

First snow

falls fresh

embellishing evergreens

Thanksgiving morning brought our first snowfall here in Minnesota, it was a lovely sight to awake to, filling me with gratitude for nature’s simple pleasures and breathtaking beauty.  And it made the holiday feel all that much more festive.  🙂

Wishing you a bit of freshness, festivity and beauty today too…

Beyond the Branches

Just beyond the chaotic mess of branches that crowd your busy mind

shines the light

Witnessing the dawning of a new day always has a special way of bringing peace and fresh hope to my heart.   May your heart be filled with fresh hope today too, and may the light be shining bright…

Lessons From Trees

Bend in the breeze

you can’t control the wind

it’s always gonna blow

sometimes softly, sometimes strong

don’t try to resist it, bend with it

let it flow through you

Stay rooted and grounded, but not stiff

brittle branches break

Stretch out your arms and embrace life

but don’t cling too tightly to anything

be willing to let go –

Let the leaves fall off when their time comes

setting them free to dance on the wind

Shed your protective bark

allowing new layers of yourself to emerge

Seasons come and go, the cycle of life continues

But always remain green inside

even in the dead of winter

Autumn’s Table

Come my friends, come sit with me

at a table midst the autumn trees

We’ll feast on colors warm and bright

delicious views to whet our appetite

This scene begged me to pause and snap a photo of it while I was passing through a rest area on a road trip up to the North Shore earlier this fall.  A lovely spot for an autumn picnic, don’t you think?

Butterfly Whispers

On butterfly wings come quiet whispers

of new life

and growth

I’m still being completely fascinated over here by my daughter’s ever-growing pregnant tummy, and I’m so in awe of the transformation that is going on within her – a little person is being formed in there, it’s so amazing!  ❤

Here is another photo I snapped of her tummy the other day…

Butterflies have become sort of the theme for my daughter’s pregnancy.

She posted the above photo on her Facebook, and with her permission I’d like to share what she wrote about it…

“(26 weeks)

Psalm 127:3
“Behold, children are a gift of the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward.”

My little butterfly ❤

This is the second photo in a butterfly series I am doing.  Last year, God answered one of my prayers by using a butterfly as a symbol, and since then, butterflies have remained a constant in my life to remind me of God’s promises and blessings for my life – especially during my pregnancy.

There are lots of legends about butterflies.  One of my favorites is that by whispering a prayer or wish to one, they will carry it to Heaven.  I have many prayers and wishes for my little girl, and alongside that legend and my own spiritual experiences with butterflies, I wanted that to be the theme for my maternity photos.

I have been feeling little movements from Noelle since 15 weeks.  Now, at 26 weeks, she is moving and kicking all the time!  And I can SEE it!  It is so exciting, and I can’t wait to meet my little girl ❤ “

I can’t wait to meet her either!

Because butterflies symbolize new life, transformation and growth, I can’t think of anything more fitting to liken to pregnancy than butterflies.  🙂

May you experience new life, transformation and growth today too…

November Passion

As the nights get longer and the leaves turn to brown

passion still blooms in the garden

and in my heart

whenever you’re around

Look what I found blooming brightly in the garden this morning, a passion flower!  Such a delightful surprise!  Especially considering it’s November 1st, when all of nature is winding down, preparing to go to sleep for the long winter.

Passion never sleeps…
