The Happiness Tag

Joey from over at Joeyfully Stated tagged me in her Happiness Tag post, and even though it was like 2 weeks ago (what can I say… my laptop is still on the fritz), any time is the perfect time to remind myself and to share with others a few of the things that make me happy…

Here are the rules:

List:

5 Things that make you happy

5 Songs that make you happy

5 Bloggers that make you happy… (Let them know that you have nominated them).

I don’t know about you, but once I get going on this train of thought, I can come up with waaay more than 5 for all of these.

Five things that make me happy:

My garden

Let me share a few photos I’ve snapped of my garden with my phone…

Omygosh first of all, my lavender!  I love lavender so much, I can’t even tell you.  Lavender should actually probably be listed separately on my happiness list.  Lavender definitely makes me happy!  ❤

And I’m very happy to report that my zucchini survived.  And not just one storm, but a few that have rocked through my area recently.  We even had trees down all over the neighborhood and lost power for about 12 hours in the last storm.  I’m so thankful  it didn’t destroy my little garden.

I’m also happy to be harvesting my beans…

And happy to see my cucumbers are coming along…

And that I’m finally getting a few tomatoes…

I’m also really enjoying all the blooms on my trumpet vine this year…

And is there any color happier than yellow ?

My Granddaughter

And it makes me especially happy having her out in the garden with me.  😊

Look at that… I only shared one picture of her!  I have more photos of her on my phone than of anything else, but I thought I’d spare you from all the endless scrolling.  😉

Autumn

I love the changing of the seasons, and fall is my favorite, the vibrant colors, the crisp air…  Everything may be dying, but it makes me come alive.

I stole this photo from one of my previous posts.  The way the sunlight was shining on this tree made it one of the most magical autumn scenes I’ve ever come across…

Butterflies

It makes me happy watching them flutter around, alighting on flowers and sampling nectar.  And I enjoy trying to photograph them.  I’ve really missed my camera.  Since my laptop died I haven’t bothered to use my camera because I have no way of uploading any pictures.  I’m thankful for my phone that does take decent pictures, but it’s just not the same quality.

Stole this one from a previous post as well.  It’s one of my favorite shots that I’ve ever captured of butterflies…

And this may be cheating, but here’s a twofer… or maybe it’s more like a threefer…

Spending time with my daughter

Riding my bike

Being near the water

Like I said… I have way more than five things that make me happy.  😉

Five songs that make me happy:

Again it’s really hard to list only five.  I love music and enjoy so many varieties of it.  Different songs speak different things to me on any given day.  In browsing through my various play lists on YouTube, these are the ones that stood out to me today…

Anything Irish sounding instantly makes me happy.  As far as I know, I don’t have a smidgen of Irish blood in me, but something resonates deep within me when I listen to Irish music.  This song is one that we will sometimes listen to in the mornings while we’re getting ready for Renfest, such an uplifting tune…

Speaking of Irish music, I love me some Riverdance/Lord of the Dance.  And how freaking adorable is this baby…

Watching all these various dance scenes from movies set to Footloose makes me happy…

And so does watching this.  I know, I’m weird…

And speaking of weird…

Apparently songs that have to do with dancing make me happy today.

Five bloggers that make me happy:

Again, gosh it’s really hard to list only five.  I sincerely love so many of your blogs.   Screw it, I’m breaking the rules and listing more than five.  For those of you listed below, there’s no obligation to participate, just know that I enjoy you and your blogs, and that you make me happy.  Thank you so much for that.  By the way I’m really sorry I haven’t stopped by your blogs much lately.  It’s hard being without a laptop and doing everything from my phone.

Joey – and no, I’m not just listing you because you listed me – your writing never fails to make me smile.  Thank you for being you!  😊

I really could go on and on, there are so many more blogs that make me happy.  I wish I could list every one of you, but I’ve already broken the list 5 rule and this post is getting really long.  Thank you for reading this far!

I’ve really missed sharing with all of you in recent months.  I’ve started several posts, but doing it from my phone is so excruciatingly tedious.  There’s been lots going on around here, some good and some not so good.  To be honest, I haven’t really had much inspiration lately.  I’ve been struggling quite a bit about a multitude of things recently, so it’s probably for the best that you haven’t had to endure my rantings and ravings.

Anyway, I hope to be back posting regularly soon.  Until then, be well and be blessed my friends.

Wishing you happiness today…

  2. What a beautiful, happy post! Your granddaughter is so adorable and she’s grown so much! I’ve missed hearing about your garden and your love of nature but I understand about not being able to post much from your phone. I couldn’t do it either. You haven’t missed much on my blog. I’ve been in a bit of a funk lately myself and haven’t posted much. I hope autumn will recharge both of us and get us back into the flow.

    • Thanks Trisha, it was a good exercise for me to reflect on the things that make me happy while I’ve been struggling with that very thing lately. I know, Noelle is getting so big, she’ll be 5 months old on the 17th. She’s truly such a joy to me. ❤
Yeah, it's been really hard being without a computer, but I don't know if I'd be posting as much anyways, because like you, I've been in a bit of a funk lately too. I hope your funk hasn't been too bad. I plan to head over to your blog right now and see what you've been up to.
I may be having a knee replacement surgery this fall, so I don't know how 'recharged' I'll be from autumn this year – I have a feeling I'll be in more of drug induced haze from all the pain meds. :/ Don't know for sure though if I'll be going through with it or not, or if I'll wait a while longer.

    • Thanks, Eliza! 🙂 Sorry I’ve been absent (I’m glad you noticed), it’s really hard doing online things without a computer. I have one to use today, so I’ve been able to spend some time catching up on the posts I’ve missed. Isn’t she a cutie though… she’s an absolute delight to me! ❤

    • Thanks Brad, my garden and my granddaughter are such great sources of joy for me. I’m so pleased and grateful for how well my garden is doing, and of course, I’m utterly delighted with my precious granddaughter. ❤
I know, being by the water is truly wonderful isn't it? I'm actually on my way up to Lake Superior tomorrow for a few days and I'm so looking forward it. Thanks, I'm sure my mojo is still there, it's just buried beneath some of life's worries. But even in the midst of those, I do have much to be thankful for. Hugs and blessings to you too my friend, and of course you'd be included in my list. 🙂

  9. Julie!! A post filled with happiness. Thank you for nominating me – it’s such an honor. Really. Visiting your blog is always food for my soul. Give little Noelle a big kiss for me. She’s grown so much! Hope you get your computer fixed and that inspiration finds your way soon. Sending lots of love, dear friend!

    • Thanks Noora, it brings me even more happiness in sharing some of the things that make me happy, and thank you for the kind words about my blog, that really means a lot. ❤ I will definitely give Noelle a kiss from you. In fact, I plan to smother that little babe in kisses later on today when she gets home – she’s been away at her dad’s for the past week and a half and I’m missing her terribly. 😥
There’s not much hope for my computer getting fixed anytime soon, but after having a mini vacation over the past few days, I sense my inspiration finding its way back to me. 😊
Sending lots of love right back at you Beautiful! ❤
