…to become bare and blank…
“Who would write on a page already filled with writings?
Who would plant a sapling where one is already planted?
One would look for an empty page and virgin soil.
Become bare like the earth so the Beloved may plant His seed, become a blank page so His pen may write upon you.”
~ Rumi
Perhaps that way, what pours forth from me in this new year will come from the divine…
But hopefully this blog won’t be as bare and blank as it has been for the past several months. 😉
Can I just say…
2016 = whew!
Wishing all of you much love and many blessings in the coming year! ❤

This is a wonderful poem and way to start the new year Julie! 🙂 Open and willing to serve the divine. I’m learning to embrace the idea that our hurts and challenges are what opens us to more light. Whew indeed for 2016. Maybe we can have a few less challenges, starting fresh and all. 🙂
Looking forward to seeing what you and the divine cook up this year. ❤

Thanks Brad, I thought so too, when I opened up my little Rumi poetry book and read that this morning. 🙂
There is a passage from Rumi’s works that says something similar to what you mention – “The wound is the place where the light enters you.”
Gosh, yes, I’m all for having a few less challenges in this fresh new year, but I have a feeling that won’t be the case, especially with a second knee replacement surgery coming up for me next month.
So here’s to being bare and blank, embracing the challenges, and being open to the divine…

Lovely 🙂 I’ve been feeling the same way. It’s not until we let go of everything that what really wants to come out starts to surface. Good luck with becoming bare and blank. The best way to be 🙂
