The outer edges of this one remind me of peacock feathers…
Not to mention, the background color paint that I used was called “peacock” blue. ย ๐
Once I had painted around the edges like that, I couldn’t figure out a way to fill in the rest of the canvas without taking away from the main mandala design, so I left it plain.
I hope your Monday is off to a great start. ย Mine is starting out sleepy, because I went on a midnight drive out of the city last night to try to see the aurora borealis, as it was supposed to be visible here in Minnesota. ย But apparently they had downgraded the expected strength of it, and I had no luck. ย I did see some gorgeous twinkling stars and the Milky Way though. ย ๐

Very fun and pretty Julie. I’m glad you’re still having fun with the mandalas. I saw some stones painted as ladybugs that reminded me of your mandalas. ๐

Thanks, Brad, I am still enjoying painting my mandalas. ๐ Ladybugs would be cute, I’ve seen rocks painted as so many interesting and beautiful things. I’m still on the lookout for round stones – mandalas being circular just don’t work as well when the rocks aren’t round. So for now I’m mostly painting them on tiles and mini canvases. ๐

Another beautiful piece! I had considered heading to PA last night to catch the lights but didn’t make it. Glad you got to enjoy the stars! ๐ซ๐

Thanks Dorinda! I enjoyed the stars, but I was pretty disappointed that the auroras didn’t make a showing, it sounded like such a sure thing. Have you ever seen the Northern Lights? I saw them once by accident while I was living out in the country and had gotten up during the night for a glass of water. I was standing there drinking my water and looking out my front kitchen window when I noticed the sky looked greenish. It was pretty exciting and cool to see! ๐

I’m loving your mandalas, Julie. This one is another beauty!
I heard of the aurora too late (rats!) but I did see the exquisite sunrise. ๐

I’m so glad you’re loving them Eliza, thanks so much! ๐
As soon as I heard that it was going to be clear skies and a good chance of seeing them, I made plans to get out of the city to go have a peak at them, but they never showed, it was pretty disappointing. I really did enjoy the stars though, and I loved being out in nature in the dark in the middle of nowhere, it was wild and primal and mystical. โค
