Mosaics

“We are mosaics-

pieces of light, love, history, stars-

glued together

with magic and music and words.”

~ Anita Krizzan

I came across the above quote the other day while out shopping with my daughter and granddaughter and it brought tears to my eyes.  I don’t know why, but it just really stuck a chord.

I’ve been running a bit on empty these days, working at two different jobs and only having one day off per week.  But I have found a few moments here and there along the way to fill my tank.  Coming across this quote was one of them, it stopped me right in my tracks  – I don’t ever want to get so busy that I lose sight of what a miraculous gift life truly is…  Every. Single. Breath…

Wishing you moments of beauty, awareness and discovery as you go through this day…

Autumn’s Confetti

At the peak of their beauty, the trees threw a party

in celebration of a year teeming with life, growth and beauty

All of nature was invited to attend the glorious spectacle of vibrant color

as the trees took center stage

But when the wind arrived, gusting in, as the wind tends to do

the party was suddenly over

leaving behind

autumn’s colorful confetti

That darn wind, blowing all of the beautiful leaves off the trees!  But I have to admit, the leaves look sorta pretty on the ground too – like confetti!  😊

There is still lots of beautiful fall color in my area, and I’ve been enjoying autumn’s party.  But we have snow in the forecast for tomorrow.   Okay, who invited snow?  Snow is NOT invited to the party – no admittance until after October!  Sigh… autumn is much too short a season…

Let us seize the day… and make it beautiful!

Autumn Streams

Autumn streams

trickle slowly

in no hurry for winter

And this year autumn is really taking its own sweet time getting here.  We’re still only at about 25% here in the city, and I’m feeling the north calling to me.  I might need to take a little road trip this weekend…

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and may all your roads lead to beautiful places…

As Above, So Below

Morning Dreams

I awake

dreams of you still lingering in my mind

After pouring a warm cuppa, I go out to greet the morning

Inhaling deeply, I gaze up

a lovely crescent moon glows brightly against a soft blue morning sky

wispy clouds drift by and I feel my heart lift

Exhaling slowly, I smile

as my love and prayers are caught up and carried away on those clouds

to sail across that vast expanse of blue

over there to you

in my morning dreams

Day Turns to Night

In awe and wonder

I stand there amazed

gazing upward

with tears streaming down my face

there are no words to describe what I’m feeling

as I witness this spectacle

moon in all its lunar glory

eclipses the blazing sun

and day turns to night

for 2:40 incredible minutes

Omygosh you guys, the total solar eclipse was THE most extraordinary thing I’ve ever witnessed!  I traveled 723.6 miles and suffered through 100+ degree temps to see it in totality, and it was “totality” worth it!

The above photo was taken with my phone during totality from a several hundred acre open-land area located within the Shawnee National Forest in Southern Illinois where I traveled to see the eclipse.  I couldn’t capture a shot of the actual eclipse with my phone because all that showed up on it was a bright fuzzy orb – which was NOT what the eclipse looked like at all, so I gave up and just soaked in the brief, but spectacular moment.  It was absolutely breathtaking, such a freaking amazing thing to see, truly!  I could barely take my eyes off of it to snap a few pictures, I was transfixed.  And the atmosphere was so eerie and magical.  It turned dark, like dusk, but not, it’s hard to describe the odd lighting, the photo doesn’t even show it true, and the crickets started chirping.  The temperature dropped significantly, it felt more like 80 than 100, which was such a relief – that heat was almost unbearable, I was literally melting into a sweaty puddle on the ground, but it was sooo worth it.

Just for the sake of providing a bit of contrast – here is a shot of that same field shortly before the eclipse began..

It truly was as if day turned to night.  I can’t stop saying just how amazing it was.  I will never forget it…

May beautiful, incredible, unforgettable experiences come your way too…

Butterfly Whispers

Whisper softly to me darling

I want to hear your innermost thoughts

to know the entirety of you

of all the passions hidden deep within

Come taste my sweet nectar

let it feed your thirsty soul

nurture your weary heart

so you can fly once again

Whisper softly to me darling
