Spring Rains

Nourishing droplets dance on my skin

Exhilarating and refreshing

are the spring rains

I got caught in the rain yesterday, and as I hurried to get indoors to escape it, I suddenly paused and realized how wonderful those raindrops felt on my skin –  cold, but exhilarating, and oh so refreshing.  Ah…  let the rain fall, washing away all worry and strife…

So what if I arrive at my destination soaking wet – at least I’m clean.  😉

Desire Awakens

Beneath your fragrant boughs

seduced by your alluring scent

desire awakens

Flower Chorus

“O such a commotion under the ground,
When March called, “Ho, there! ho!”
Such spreading of rootlets far and wide,
Such whisperings to and fro!
“Are you ready?” the Snowdrop asked,
” ‘Tis time to start, you know.”
“Almost, my dear!” the Scilla replied,
“I’ll follow as soon as you go.”
Then “Ha! ha! ha!” a chorus came
Of laughter sweet and slow,
From millions of flowers under the ground,
Yes, millions beginning to grow.

“I’ll promise my blossoms,” the Crocus said,
“When I hear the blackbird sing.”
And straight thereafter Narcissus cried,
“My silver and gold I’ll bring.”
“And ere they are dulled,” another spoke,
“The Hyacinth bells shall ring.”
But the Violet only murmured, “I’m here,”
And sweet grew the air of Spring.
Then “Ha! ha! ha!” a chorus came
Of laughter sweet and low,
From millions of flowers under the ground,
Yes, millions beginning to grow.

O the pretty brave things, thro’ the coldest days
Imprisoned in walls of brown,
They never lost heart tho’ the blast shrieked loud,
And the sleet and the hail came down;
But patiently each wrought her wonderful dress,
Or fashioned her beautiful crown,
And now they are coming to lighten the world
Still shadowed by winter’s frown.
And well may they cheerily laugh “Ha! ha!”
In laughter sweet and low,
The millions of flowers under the ground,
Yes, millions beginning to grow.”

In Spring

Sweet tender buds

the promise of beauty to come

bring joy, hope

renewal

to the winter-wearied soul

in spring

On a Warm Spring Day

Bright sunlight illuminates the delicate, white petals of apple blossoms

as they scent the air with their luscious fragrance

Beauty, purity, softness

sweet and sensuous

And I’m filled with longing

For you

to be in my arms

underneath those lovely flower-filled boughs

Our joy overflowing

the beautiful refrain of our laughter mingling together with the sweet melody of the Robin’s song

Come away with me honey

my sweetheart

my love

lets make the most of this glorious, warm spring day

February Fog

The road ahead shrouded in mist

I venture deeper into that mysterious unknown

unafraid

soothed by the stillness

of a February fog

Snapped this with my phone through the windshield of my car as I was driving down the road this morning.  Don’t worry, I was being completely safe, there were no other cars in sight.  🙂

I love the fog, even with as dreary as it seems.  I find the stillness and mysteriousness of it incredibly soothing.  We don’t get fog here very often, so I’m always delighted whenever we do and make it a point to get outside and enjoy it.

May you find things to enjoy today too…

Weekly Photo Challenge: Solitude

A solitary crow sulks on barren branches

on a gloomy morning without a sunrise

I had this one in my drafts from back in 2015, so it’s probably cheating a bit to use it for this week’s photo challenge, but it came to mind as I was out driving my mom to an appointment earlier this morning, because it’s very dreary weather here today.  Funny thing is, I rather like it.  The entire city is shrouded in a heavy mist, I love it.  So odd for February.

I’ve always thought of solitude as a state of being peaceful in aloneness, but in studying the definition a bit more,  I’m not so sure.  Some of the other words synonymous with solitude include –  emptiness, isolation, loneliness, and even quarantine, it’s not until way down the list that I see peace and quiet.  I guess it all depends on what one’s interpretation and perception of things are…

May you interpret and perceive today as being lovely
