Barnebey and Me

Wind in my hair

feeling wild and free

flying down the road

just Barnebey and me

Not a cloud in the sky

warm sun on my back

to destinations unknown

we may never come back.

I know this is really silly, but I’m feeling rather silly at the moment.  I went for my first bike ride of the season yesterday and it was so wonderful.  It was a gorgeous day and it felt so great to be back on my beautiful, blue bike again, I was smiling the entire time.  The people I rode past probably thought I was high.  And I guess I was – flying high on my blue cloud.  😉

And the high is just beginning… I have lots of things planned with Barnebey this summer, both pleasurable and practical, and I’m really looking forward to it.  It’s supposed to be lovely weather again today, so a little while later we’ll be off to the library together, as my book is overdue, oops!

From there, I have no idea where we’ll end up, but it’s sure to a beautiful journey.  Barnebey and me.

Thanks for letting me share my silly poem and a bit of the joy I find in my riding my bike.  May your journey today be filled with joy and beauty, and with…

  3. I love this post Julie. Your joy of flying high with Barnebey is delightful and infectious. Now I’m ready to take Mr. Felt out for a spin, but we’ve had several rainy days. I too find much joy in riding my bike, sailing through the wind, time and space. to play and bike riding! 🙂

    • Thanks so much, Brad! I love ‘infecting’ other people. With joy, of course. 😉 I’d be interested to hear the story behind how/why your bike is named Mr. Felt…
Yes, to play and bike riding!
Hope the rainy weather clears up for you soon! 🙂

      • I borrowed your method. It is a “Felt” brand bike that I bought a few summers ago while in Madison WI, which is a great town for biking!!!! 🙂

      • Copycat! 😉 My bike is actually a Fuji brand bicycle, but the model is the Barnebey and that sounds more like a name. ‘Mr Felt’ is funny! I’ve never been to Madison, but it’s only about 4 hours from here. Minneapolis is a great town for biking as well. Or so I’ve heard – I still need to find out for myself. 🙂

  7. Delightful poem – I was sailing right along with you! Maybe you should sell it to the manufacturer – it’s the best advertisement!

  8. Barnebey is such a beautiful shade of blue! I’m glad you’re able to spend time together again. Bike riding has the same freeing effect on me. Enjoy the sunshine and Barnebey!

I know you and I share a mutual love for bike riding, I hope you’ve been able to get out there on yours. And I also hope the weather is nice there for you too. Mostly sunny and 70 are what we’ve been having lately, it’s freaking wonderful! ❤
