“Around us, life bursts with miracles – a glass of water, a ray of sunshine, a leaf, a caterpillar, a flower, laughter, raindrops. If you live in awareness, it’s easy to see miracles everywhere. Each human being is a multiplicity of miracles. Eyes that see thousands of colors, shapes, and forms; ears that hear a bee flying, or a thunderclap; a brain that ponders a speck of dust as easily as the entire cosmos; a heart that beats in rhythm with the heartbeat of all beings. When we are tired and feel discouraged by life’s daily struggles, we may not notice these miracles, but they are always there.”
~ Thich Nhat Hanh

I love this thought and resonate with it so much. It’s a good reminder for me when I’m ‘tired and feel discouraged by life’s daily struggles.’
May you notice some of life’s miracles today.

I try to go swimming every morning..it’s good for my body but more importantly an opportunity to quietly gaze upon nature’s morning magic. When you can start the day thanking God for sunshine reflected off dew drops..you are starting the day off right! 🌸

What a lovely practice Cindy. Swimming is so wonderful, I wish I could do more of it. I too, start my days off with gratitude and thanking God – sometimes it’s for the very things listed in the above quote. 🙂 This morning for instance, I was awakened by one of those thunderclaps and the sound of raindrops on my roof, I love the sound of thunder. ❤

I needed this reminder as I begin a new sales job that I’m not excited about! May we look for those daily miracles and joys. 🙂

Wishing you the best as you start your new job, Brad. Hope all goes well and that you’re able to find little miracles hidden there too! 🙂

Thanks Julie. It’s getting harder to find joy and passion for sales.

I bet. That’s not a job I’d enjoy either, even if I believed in what I was selling. But I do enjoy people, and I have a feeling you do as well, so maybe you could try and switch that joy and passion over toward them and make some fun new connections.
But also maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about, people suck sometimes too. Oops, did I just say that in my outside voice? 😉 It’s just that I know people are often rude to sales people, and it’s harder to love rude people.

Ha, ha, All of the above is true. I’ll do what I can and probably keep looking for other work. Thanks for caring and reflecting!

Now that’s deep Julie. I’ve never thought about it like that before…

I know, right?
I have some specks of dust that resemble the cosmos. I should probably ponder cleaning them… 😉

Wise, wonderful words. I love Thich Nhat Hanh. I need to find my way back to a place of gratitude and awe. Right now I’m in a place that is more cranky and resentful.

I know… words like this have a way of snapping me right into place. I’m sort of on a Thich Nhat Hanh kick right now, so subsequent posts from me this week will probably include more of his quotes.
It’s understandable that you’ve been in a place that is more cranky and resentful when you haven’t been feeling well. I hope you feel better soon, and that you find your way back to a place of gratitude, joy and inspiration. ❤

I should listen to the Thich Nhat Hanh program I have on my iPod. Maybe it would help. I’m so hating everything right now and I don’t want to feel this way. I look forward to your inspirational Thich Nhat Hanh-inspired posts!

Yeah, try listening to it, It certainly couldn’t hurt and is likely to help, at least somewhat. I hate when I’m hating on everything. It doesn’t happen very often, but oh boy when it does… gosh it sucks. Hope you find some relief soon ❤

Love this TNH quote! I have more awareness of everyday miracles the older I get and often I am awed by the perfection that makes these complexities possible. Hugs to you, Julie!
