It All Comes Down to Love

Absolutely everything comes down to love.  Everything.

“If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge;        and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

Love is patient,

love is kind

and is not jealous;

love does not brag

and is not arrogant,

does not act unbecomingly;

it does not seek its own,

is not provoked,

does not take into account a wrong suffered,

does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails…”

  1. I think you’re right. It all does come down to love. Lately I’ve been learning how important it is to allow so many vulnerable and “unacceptable” parts of myself. When those are acknowledged, they seem to relax and not be a problem anymore. And then I am able to love others even more. Thanks, Jewel.

    • And I think you’re right too Kathy ~ the acceptance and loving of ourselves is a huge key element in our ability to love others, I think it’s all that ‘other stuff’ (our own insecurities) that often gets in the way and keeps us from doing so. Thanks so much for your comment, stay warm (inside and out) up there in the frozen tundra of Lake Superior. 🙂

    • Thanks Trisha! Those first few verses are such a powerful reminder for me to check my intentions and motives to make sure that all I say and do is done in an attitude of love. Obviously I fail at times, but I can aspire to love in such a way as this. Hope you are well doing well, I’ll have to pay you a visit over in the fog when I get a chance. In the meantime… sending some love vibes your way! 😀 ♥

  5. Simply amazing. I was floored by this one. You wrenched from me a reaction that I did not think was possible. I was agonized by this, do I feel this love, the love I was commanded to share. Thank you for this my dear friend for the way you help me see things, for following your leading to write what you do for it shows others that the Light is still there, waiting, silently calling, beckoning leading them, Home. I love you my dear Soul Sister.
