Water drips
from frozen tips
as temperatures dip
winds whip
creating an icy grip
the claw of winter.

Noticed this interesting ice formation on the branches of our lilac the other day. Not sure how it happened or what made it form that way, but I thought it looked kinda cool so I snapped a photo of it. It wasn’t quite the right lighting from this angle, but I had to snap it from this perspective to capture the claw-like shape.
We’ve got some cold temps ahead in our forecast here, so we’ll definitely be feeling the icy grip of ‘the claw of winter.’ Hope you’re staying warm and cozy wherever you are.
And because this scene from Toy Story keeps playing in my head…

Great image and words. We are much warmer here in England’s New Forest.

Thanks so much, Derrick! Glad to hear you’re experiencing warmer temps there. I dream of visiting England one day, but during the summer of course. 😉

I can relate to wanting to capture and share the amazing beauty that I see and can’t always capture with my camera.

That is quite an extraordinary capture Julie. It’s hard to work out how the lateral formations came to be; then again, there may be some optical illusion going on? H ❤

Thanks, Hariod. It really is an unusual formation, had to be from the wind is all I can figure. Optical illusions I can deal with ~ as long as it’s not a mutant giant spider dog. 😉

Still no winter here.😞 I keep hoping it will come before February, but in Arkansas we are more apt to have a snap heat wave than a glorious round of snow for days. Thank goodness I have a small can of snow reserved for my moment of weakness, it will be used tonight. Maybe if the Lil Helpers and I create a couple of mini snowmen it will bring on some powdery stuff. Oh the imagination is running now. Is there magic in that can? I will let you know.

Oh please do let me know how that can of snow works out! I don’t know if there’s any magic in it, but there was definitely some love sent along with it. ❤

Love it. It looks cold and slightly menacing. Or maybe like pea pods made of ice.

Amazing ice formation – the wind must have been very strong!
Now that we no longer have the holidays to distract us, we must face the winter head on. Here we go!

I never did get my white Christmas, so I’m still hoping for a bit more snow here. The bitter cold I can do without, but it sure puts pretty frost designs on my windows. Stay warm there, Eliza! 🙂

With temps around 40 C everyday we sure are warm… love the photo, but you can keep the cold…

It’s -25 windchill here this morning, so maybe you could send just a little of that warmth this way. 😉
